Apprenticeships for Leaders in Mosaic Arts (ALMA) has a number of projects and collaborations on the table this fall.

First up is a project designing and fabricating tile for a new project on the first floor of Albuquerque City Hall.

ALMA also recently collaborated with local Albuquerque artist Reyes Padilla for his Acequia Revitalization project at the National Hispanic Cultural Center. Padilla is an Albuquerque-based painter and muralist whose creations on canvas and site-specific installations take inspiration from the New Mexico landscape and the multicultural environment in which he was raised. ALMA completed a 265 ft mosaic tile river along the concrete acequia that complements Reyes’ design.
In addition, ALMA has been working with a couple in Isleta Pueblo to transform their home into a future community space. ALMA initiated the project by making tiles with their friends and family at their wedding reception. It then facilitated a design gathering at their Winter Solstice dinner last winter, and has been working hard to bring those ideas into fruition and translate them into tile.
