Acumen, artisans, updates and authenticity

We at TileLetter are pleased to bring you a magazine packed with information and resources that makes terrific reading material as you are winging your way to Coverings 2025 in Orlando, Fla., April 29-May 2 at the Orange County Convention Center.

Though we previewed contractor-centric and NTCA programming at the show in last month’s issue, take a look at our Artisan story this month to learn a little more about some events at Coverings, featuring artisan tile setters who upped their skills at the NTCA-sponsored Artisans Revolution in Tile programs (A.R.T.) in 2023 and 2024. They are moving the tile artisan movement forward and will be talking about it and demonstrating techniques at Coverings, and also at TileFest in Doylestown, Pa. May 17-18. If you want to experience Hogwarts, tile style, find your way to the Moravian Pottery and Tile Works in Doylestown for the event!

As we come into warmer weather, thoughts turn toward spending more time outdoors. Learn about documents in the NTCA Reference Manual that detail pavers installed on pedestals in our Technical Section, and view the Product Focus section in this issue for paver and pedestal products. The Ask the Experts section explores suitable cleaners and underscores the importance of movement joints – something that can never be overstated.

CTEF Executive Director Brad Denny gives an update on CTEF’s class schedule as well as the CTEF Nashville and CTEF New Jersey locations. And speaking of the A.R.T. program – the next one will be held at CTEF’s Nashville location, Sept. 29-Oct. 2.

NTCA’s Jeremy Sax, in conjunction with Becky Serbin, has been making inroads in the NTCA Five-Star Accredited Program for elite tile setters and adding more programs, benefits and highlights. Learn the details in our Members section.

NTCA President Rod Owen shares the first installment of his top 10 essential acumen skills for successful business leaders: understanding your financials. Read about it in the President’s Letter.

Life can be tough sometimes. When it is, it’s helpful to know you’re not alone and have access to some resources that can support mental wellness. The Business section of our magazine is a Workplace Wellness story that focuses on mental health support for individuals and leaders, with authentic and open comments from tile setters within our industry about their own struggles, solutions, and what has helped them thrive.

NTCA will be out in force at Coverings this month, and we’d love to see you! Please come by booth #2934 or say hello if you see us in passing!

God bless,
Lesley
