Granite and Trend Transformations Introduces Arabescato as Newest Addition to the Classic Marble Collection

Granite and Trend Transformations, a franchise system specializing in kitchen and bathroom remodeling using engineered stone surfaces, today announced its latest addition to their classic marble collection, Arabescato.  The Arabescato is inspired by marble quarried in Carrara, Italy, with similar patterns and veining of marble from the region.

The marble features distinguished hues of dusty grey and soft white.  The Arabescato slabs are engineered with recycled glass and quartz, and display marble veining which is imprinted with a sublimation process that mimics the look of traditional marble.  However, unlike traditional marble, the Arabescato will never need to be resealed.

Crossville Showcases Reformation Porcelain Tile Collection at Surfaces 2019

New Line Set to Launch Mid-February, Offers a Revolutionary Take on the Look of Concrete

Crossville, Tennessee – Crossville, Inc. has debuted the Reformation porcelain tile collection as part of its exhibition at The International Surfaces Show in Las Vegas. Reformation is set to formally launch in mid-February 2019. This unique, concrete-look product offers unprecedented visual depth with movement, pitting, aggregate, and sheen variations interpreted in stylish, large format plank tiles, as well as mosaic options and trims.

“This is a concrete look unlike any other thanks to our Digital Plus technology. We achieved an ultra-realistic appearance with deeply layered graphics,” explains Lindsey Waldrep, Crossville VP of marketing. “As the name implies, we’re reforming—changing—the way you see concrete.”

Crossville’s New Reformation Collection

The collection’s four hues answer the demand of current color trends while providing lasting appeal for installations in the long-term. The quartet of colors includes New Day, a light, cool gray; Rally Cry, a strong, nuanced gray; Ideology, a light neutral; and March On, a darker hue reminiscent of industrial steel.

“Though the color palette is neutral, the hues offer amazing visual texture,” Waldrep describes.

Reformation comes in three rectified plank tile sizes—24”x36”, 12”x36”, and 6”x36”—that are ideal for mixing and matching in a variety of patterns.

“The plank sizes combined with the concrete appearance is a unique twist, converging two industry trends into a new and unexpected look,” Waldrep shares.

In addition to the plank field tiles, Crossville is introducing a new block mosaic for this collection. The line also comes with a standard 2”x2” square mosaic. These mosaic alternatives invite creativity and versatility while providing solutions with the technical characteristics required for wet-area flooring. Coordinating cove base and bullnose trims allow for fully finished looks.

As with all products produced at Crossville’s Tennessee manufacturing facilities, Reformation is responsibly made in the USA, contains a minimum of 4% pre-consumer recycled content, and is Green Squared certified. Reformation is recommended for a wide range of interior installations, as well as exterior walls, in commercial and residential settings.

Chic Carrara Marble Tiles by Island Stone

Island Stone® Spindrift Marble Tiles Combine Chic Carrara Marble With Organic Forms
With a pebble-like shape, Carrara Stone mosaics offer a playful take on popular marble

The lavish, classic look of Italian Carrara marble is one of the hottest trends in kitchen and bath design. Now, Island Stone® is putting a playful spin on the iconic material with its Spindrift Marble interlocking tiles. Made with Carrara stone, Spindrift Marble tiles capture the chic aesthetic of marble slabs in a playful, organic shape reminiscent of pebbles.

With versatile features like a clean grout line, uniform edges, and a smooth flat surface, Spindrift Marble is both elegant and practical. The sculptural white and gray marble is stunning in both classic and modern environments.

“Homeowners are clamoring for the look and feel of trendy Carrara marble, but not every kitchen and bath style is suited to the contemporary influence of a solid slab. Spindrift Marble captures the sophisticated essence of the classic material in a natural shape whose curves add a playful, eye-catching aesthetic,” says Jeff Nibler, COO and president of sales for Island Stone.

Each Carrrara stone is meticulously shaped and crafted into mosaic tiles measuring 11-3/4” square by 1/4” thick. Spindrift Marble tiles are suitable for walls, residential and high-traffic floors, showers, and freeze/thaw areas.

New PermaBase CI Insulated Cement Board™ Being Introduced Today At The International Surface Event In Las Vegas

New PermaBase CI Insulated Cement Board  Saves Time and Labor Vs. Installing Separate Insulation and Cement Board Solutions

New PermaBase CI Insulated Cement Board™, a composite cement board that combines the strength and benefits of PermaBase with rigid insulation to create an ideal substrate for exterior finishes, is being introduced today at The International Surface Event (TISE) at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.

A National Gypsum brand, PermaBase CI meets or exceeds energy code requirements in all seven climate zones across the country with an R-Value of R-10. For use in residential, multi-family and low-rise commercial applications, PermaBase CI is lighter weight than using separate cement board and insulation products.

“Using PermaBase CI Insulated Cement Board™ as a substrate for exterior finishes can reduce total installed costs by 20 to 25 percent,” said Tony Fuller, product manager for PermaBase at National Gypsum. “Given the construction industry’s evolving energy code requirements, this is good news for builders, general contractors, specifiers, design-build professionals and architects.”

There are many benefits to using PermaBase CI Insulated Cement Board™ as a substrate for exterior finishes:

  • Faster Installation
    • Expedites construction schedules by saving time and labor over installing separate insulation and cement board solutions
  • Performance | Convenience | Lighter Weight
    • Made with PermaBase Cement Board and high-density polyiso insulation, PermaBase CI provides durability and highly efficient insulation in one lighter-weight, convenient package
  • Laminated with an R-10 Insulation
    • With an insulative value of R-10, PermaBase CI meets or exceeds energy code requirements across the country
  • NFPA 285 Approvals for Adhered Veneer Finishes
    • Approved for adhered veneer finishes such as manufactured and natural stone, thin brick and tile, as well as direct applied coatings of synthetic stucco
  • GREENGUARD GOLD certified
    • For low chemical emissions
  • Mold Resistant
    • Per UL 2824 as validated by UL Environment

PermaBase CI Insulated Cement Board™ will be showcased at TISE Jan. 22 – 25, along with other PermaBase products, at National Gypsum’s Booth #5317. TISE is comprised of three world-class trade shows: SURFACES, StonExpo/Marmomac and TileExpo.

Horizontal Drain Outlet Makes Relocating Showers Easier

Relocating a drain for a shower can be extremely challenging and potentially expensive in many remodeling and renovation situations.  Residential environments that present these challenges include slab-on-grade construction, basements, high-rise condominiums, apartments and even many wood frame homes where multiple trades would be required to relocate an existing drain.  Commercially, any building with suspended concrete, post-tension concrete or old, vertical chases can present major challenges as re-coring concrete is a costly operation.  To overcome these challenges Schluter Systems has developed the Schluter®-KERDI-DRAIN-H with a 2” horizontal outlet.

The horizontal outlet allows the drain to be connected to an existing drain pipe and P-trap away from the new drain location.  Connecting to existing plumbing from a new drain location can significantly reduce demolition work, mess, and the cost of the project.  In situations where there is no access to the space below the floor, the horizontal drain outlet can bring an otherwise impossible project into the realm of possibility.

KERDI-DRAIN-H is identical in every way to existing Schluter 2” drains with the exception that the outlet is horizontal instead of vertical.  The drain includes the integrated bonding flange and is part of the complete Schluter shower system for constructing waterproof tiled showers.  It is available in both PVC and ABS.

To facilitate installation of the drain, Schluter has also developed the Schluter®-KERDI-SHOWER-CB compensation board.  Made of lightweight expanded polystyrene, the board is installed on the floor to accommodate the drain body and waste pipe height requirements.  Using the boards is a time and cost-effective alternative to pouring concrete.  The compensation board can be easily cut to size to fit the required space and to fit around the drain and waste pipe.  Multiple boards can be installed to custom fit the specific size and shape of the shower. A Schluter prefabricated shower tray can then be installed on top of the compensation board.

The new drain and compensation board will be available March 1 and are being shown in the Schluter booth at The International Surface Event (TISE) January 23-25 and the International Builders’ Show (IBS) February 19-21.

Schluter unveils brushed stainless steel shower shelves

stainless steel shower corner shelves

Schluter stainless steel corner shelves in its Floral pattern

A shelf is a near necessity in a shower.  The most common solution in a tiled shower is for the installer to construct a shelf using a tile covering that matches or accents the tiles in the shower area.  These tile shelves can be challenging and time consuming to install and are not always the best design solution for the bathroom. Schluter has developed a line of brushed stainless steel shower shelves that are fast and easy to install and bring a new design element to tiled showers.

Although they can be used in any setting, the shelves are designed to complement the Schluter STYLE shower grates.  Shelves are available in both the Curve and Floral patterns to match Schluter’s point and linear drains with the same designs.

Made with 5/32” thick stainless steel, the sturdy shelves require no special tools for installation.  They fit neatly between rows of tile and do not require any materials or fasteners to penetrate the waterproofing membrane on the walls.  The end result is a sleek, clean finish and a shelf that will easily hold shower accessories.

Five different shapes and sizes make it easy to select a shelf that suits any situation:

Schluter®-SHELF-N: This rectangular shelf is designed to fit inside the Schluter-KERDI-BOARD-SN shower niche and provides an alternative to a thicker tiled shelf within the niche.

Schluter®-SHELF-E: Three shapes and sizes help provide just the right amount of storage space in the shower area.  All three shelves are for corner mounting and can be installed with the tiles or after the fact as a retrofit.

Schluter®-SHELF-W: A rectangular shelf, 4-1/2” x 11-3/16” with an integrated double anchoring leg for installation between tile rows anywhere on the shower wall.  This shelf is designed to be installed at the same time as the tiles.

The new shower shelves will be available March 1 and are being shown in the Schluter booth at The International Surface Event (TISE) January 23-25 and the International Builders’ Show (IBS) February 19-21.

This added measure of strength combined with the dense, non-porous body ensures the material will not crack, yellow, or stain and is built to last. It’s suited for interior and exterior countertop installations in commercial or residential settings. Crossville Porcelain Countertops’ technical characteristics aid in its outperformance of alternative countertop surfaces such as natural stone, quartz, and other sintered and porcelain products that are available on the market.

  • Longer lasting – resistant to stains, heat, high temperatures, chemicals, acids, alkalis, solvents, scratches, and abrasions
  • Easier to maintain – requires no special cleaning products and are resistant to mold, fungi, and graffiti
  • Suited for outdoors – frost resistant and colorfast in UV light
  • Easier to fabricate for installers – dimensional stability makes the countertops easier to cut and fiberglass inclusion prevents splintering and cracking
