Amityville, NY, June 2020 – Infinity Drain, a category leader offering the broadest selection of decorative drains and installation options, is launching a new online CEU in partnership with Architectural Record. The new course, entitled Linear Drain Systems for Barrier-Free Bathrooms and Wet Rooms, focuses on the design and functional benefits these drain systems offer for both indoor and outdoor applications.

“Drains are a detail that are often not top of mind in the design process and this course illustrates how prioritizing them can improve a project’s outcome,” notes Jonathan Brill, President of Infinity Drain. “We’re excited to offer a course that spotlights this frequently overlooked category in bathroom design and partner with Architectural Record to help support the advancement of industry professionals.”

Learning objectives of the 1 AIA LU/HSW credit educational course include:
Identify linear drain systems and their benefits for safe and efficient water drainage.
Specify linear drain systems based on style and function, including durable waterproofing methods.
Discuss the features of a wet room that can be sprayed off and sanitized.
Define ADA requirements within the indoor wet area/bathroom and how it applies to linear drain systems.
Discuss outdoor architectural drain design and applications for quickly and safely draining water from building exteriors, driveways, hardscaping, landscaping, and pool areas.

From a design perspective, the curbless or barrier free shower that linear drains enable result in a seamless, spa-like environment design that can’t be achieved using traditional shower drains. Without barriers, there are a range of design details that can be incorporated that truly open up the room. For example, the bathroom floor can flow uninterrupted from wall-to-wall, large format tile can be used and enclosures around the shower space can be eliminated. On the functional side, a barrier free shower can cater to everyone’s needs and abilities allowing people of all ages to safely enter the shower without the need to climb over a threshold or into a tub.
