A tireless advocate for high standards and proper methods, Woelfel serves as Chairman of NTCA’s Technical Committee and Chairman of the Board for the NTCA, following his two-year term as President of the Association.  He is one of only a few tile contractors in the United States to sit on the Tile Council of North America (TCNA) Handbook Committee for Tile Installation and the ANSI ASC 108 Committee for ceramic tile installation.  “The opportunity to participate in field testing and product feedback is mutually beneficial for a manufacturer and a tile contractor, because it allows for the authentic flow of information to improve products that help our industry,” said Woelfel. “Serving on the iQ Advisory Board allows our teams in the field access to new technology that will, in turn, help other contractors as more products are developed.”
  • Mike DeGiusti, owner of Terra-Mar, Inc., a 5-Star contractor in Oklahoma City, OK. Working with his father since the age of 12, DeGiusti has served on the boards of Associated General Contractors of Oklahoma and American Subcontractors Association of Oklahoma. He currently serves on the NTCA Technical Committee and is the NTCA State Ambassador for Oklahoma. “I have been on several advisory boards in the past and love the interaction with new products,” commented DeGiusti. “When I first met the iQ Team, I was impressed. MAPEI offers certified, sustainable tile mortars and grouts

 

 

 

 

 

An important issue that manufacturers must address in today’s marketplace is the ability to balance product performance with environmentally sustainable formulations and manufacturing processes. The clarity with which the manufacturer reports on both of these products aspects is a measure of the company’s transparency to its customers and end users.  Third-party certification of products and their manufacturing processes is one method of displaying transparency.

MAPEI is a champion of the Tile Council of North America’s Green Squared program for third-party-certified green products for the installation of tile and stone. MAPEI has a select set of mortars and grouts that are SCS third-party certified to the TCNA’s Green Squared standard (ANSI A138.1), making them eligible for a special LEED v4 pilot credit.

The TCNA reported in a recent news release, “Specifically, Green Squared Certified products now qualify to contribute toward a new LEED Pilot Credit offered for using ‘Certified Multi-attribute Products and Materials.’ The credit requires that certification details, including which Green Squared electives were satisfied, are disclosed, and that a product lifecycle assessment (LCA) has been conducted.”

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has also added Green Squared Certified products to its current recommendations made to all U.S. government purchasing officials to aid in identifying and procuring environmentally sustainable products and services.

The MAPEI products that have been Green Squared Certified include MAPEI Ultralite Mortar, MAPEI Ultralite Mortar Pro, MAPEI Ultralite S2 mortar, MAPEI Ultralite S1 Quick mortar Ultracolor® Plus FA premium grout and new MAPEI Flexcolor 3D ready-to-use grout with translucent/iridescent effects. These products can be specified by architects as a sustainable tile installation system.

MAPEI also has TCNA industry-average Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), Health Product Declarations (HPDs) and VOC emission certifications (CA-DPH 01350) for these products and many others, which can contribute to LEED v4 as well as to sustainability programs such as the Living Building Challenge (LBC) and the Well Building Standard.

Bostik acquires floor preparation systems from CGM, Inc. in the United States

Arkema announces the acquisition by Bostik of CMP Specialty Products, the flooring and floor preparation business of US based specialist CGM. This business, which generated US$15 million sales in 2016, offers strong synergies with Bostik. TILE OF SPAIN WORKSHOP IN SAINT PETERSBURG

The Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade and the Spanish Ceramic Tile Manufacturers’ Association, in collaboration with the Trade Commission of Spain in Moscu has organized a country – image workshop aimed to the architects and interior designers. This event will be celebrated at TKACHÍ, in the city of San Petersburgo on Thursday 25th May.

Tile of Spain at Florence (Italy)

ASCER and ICEX, under the Internationalization Plan of the tile sector for 2017, organized in collaboration with the Spanish Commercial Office in Milano, the participation of Tile of Spain in the “Edilportale Tour 2017” stage that took place on May, 4th in the Puccini Theatre of Florence.
This Tour is a series of seminars addressed to specifiers organized by the leader site in Italy, Edilportale (Archiportale, Archiproduct and Archilovers) that have an itinerant character, covering the whole country. Tile of Spain participated in the stage celebrated in Florence, under the motto “Reconstruction, energy requalification, seismic safety, BIM”. It had the honor to count on the experience of different speakers, like Umberto Menicalli, expert geographer and collaborator of Tile of Spain in Italy, among others.
At the event, Tile of Spain was present with an information point, promoting the quality and design of the Spanish ceramic tiles, as well as an innovative product sample of each of the Tile of Spain members attending the seminar: Cas Cerámica, Cerámica Elías, Gres de Aragón and Dune Cerámica.
The “Edilportale Tour” was celebrated by eighth consecutive year, thanks to the success of assistance in previous editions, which account more than 76.000 participants. The objective of Tile of Spain was to make local professionals know the Spanish ceramic, placing it as innovative and technological.
